Best Fish and Chip shop in Crewe & Nantwich - Round 1 results

Here are the results from Round 1 in this year's Best Fish & Chip shop in Crewe & Nantwich. Heat 1 saw last year's winner Benny's Fish and Chips go through to the semi finals, but they faced competition from Shavington Fish Bar who were leading in the heat until the last week of voting. Coronation St Chippy also progress from Heat 1.

Last year's third place, Walthall St Chippy qualified for the semi finals only by 1 vote with Vernon's Fish Bar the unlucky shop missing out. Jacko's chippy and Neptune's qualified as the top 2 from Heat 2.

Mick the chips won heat 3 ahead of two of last year's finalists The Fish Bar & Cod n all. A huge influx of votes came in on the final week of voting for |Mick the chips and they could be a contender for this year's competition.

Heat 4 saw our only contender from Nantwich progress to the semi finals, Coral Reef (Pillory St). Also qualifying is Alton St Chippy and Haslington Fish & Chips.

Review of Giovannis Italian restaurant on Nantwich Road

Giovannis is an Italian restaurant on Nantwich Road in Crewe. Local Listings went there to eat about a month ago - here is our review!

The first thing you notice when you enter Giovannis is the staff. Friendly, welcoming and accommodating to their customer's needs. Whilst we were there, we saw many examples of this, including merging tables in an already busy restaurant to accommodate a large group of people and, on another table, talking to the customers about a dish and then offering to change the sauce to meet their requirements.

The food is as good as the service and the price is very reasonable considering that all pizzas, pastas, soups, sauces and more are created from scratch in the restaurant.

Tenchy's Fish and Chip Shop to replace Davison's in Crewe

A new fish and chip shop is opening tomorrow to replace Davison's, The new shop will be called Tenchy's Fish and Chip shop and to celebrate their first weekend in business, they are offering half price food, so you can watch the Grand National whilst tucking into your favourite dish.

Rookery Wood has recently undergone a major refurbishment, but the menu and theme remains the same.

What you can expect to find is decent pub food at a very reasonable price, catering for the whole family - with a wacky warehouse to keep the children entertained.

For the adults, there is a large beer garden and a Costa Coffee within the wacky warehouse.

Wide range of '2 meals for £10' deals. Full menu price is very reasonable.

Comments - Nice pizza and a wide range of products on their menu. I tried the new online ordering system, but they didn't deliver! I waited for around an hour and a half before giving up. Lots of side orders available and they usually have meal deals available.

Comments - In March of 2009, Omer Simpsons was sold. It has now been fully renovated, with a new name and new management. Tavros has a wide selection of food and their menu is online - you can even order online. They sell fish and chips, kebabs, southern fried chicken, burgers and now have pizzas too. I've not yet tried the new food, but I will be doing so soon.

Comments - 118 was a favourite chinese takeway of mine, so I was worried when I found out it was under new management. It is now known as the New Dragon House. It is more expensive than 118, but the food is now even better!
